Waste plastic to oil technology

Waste plastics can be recycled by high temperature pyrolysis technique, means, by heating or adding some catalyst decomposition of waste plastics to get fuel oil and diesel. Pyrolysis of waste plastics not only no pollution to the environment, but also can effectively recover energy. We can say that the pyrolysis of waste plastics like a reverse process of producing plastic products.
Due to the different composition of waste plastics, its pyrolysis method is also different. Such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS) is almost all of these decomposition at 300-400 ℃. But polyvinyl chloride (PVC) will be in two stage decomposition, at 200-300 ℃ and 300-400 ℃. At lower temperatures will release HCL, and produce more hydrocarbons, and then further decomposed at higher temperatures. Since HCL has some of the equipment corrosion pyrolysis, but also affect the pyrolysis catalysts quality as well as the machine service life and quality of fuel oil and diesel. So it will be better the raw material content less than 30% PVC composition.
Final products after pyrolysis
Due to differences in the molecular structure of different plastic materials and therefore the composition of the cleavage product and recovery is not same. In general, four types final products by high temperature pyrolysis: hydrocarbon gases (C1-C5), oil (gas molecules of carbon number C5-C11, the number of carbon molecules diesel C12-C20, the number of molecules of heavy carbon C20), paraffin and coke.
Some typical pyrolysis product recovery and waste plastic composition and content in the following figure:
